Norwegian energy company Statkraft has announced a plan to develop and operate 2GW of solar and wind capacity in Germany.

According to BSW solar, questions about the mobilisation of storage and the appropriate assessment of required market premiums and maximum bid values for commercial PV investments were largely left out.

Fraunhofer ISE has opened a new outdoor solar technology test field in Germany, enabling a faster and more accurate evaluation of PV modules. 

Germany has added more than 2.6GW of solar capacity in the first three months of the year, according to The Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur).

Inverter supplier SMA Solar Technology has started the construction of a 20GW inverter factory in Germany expected to be operational in 2025.

The Federal Network Agency announced that with a tendered quantity of 1.95GW, 347 bids with a volume of 2.87GW were submitted.

The number of residential solar and storage systems installed in Germany increased 52% in 2022 compared with the previous year, whilst three quarters of Germans would consider installing rooftop solar.

Solar developer Lightsource bp has entered the German solar PV market and is aiming to develop between 300-400MW per year by 2030.

As Germany is pushing for its goal of producing 80% of electricity consumption covered by renewable energy in 2030, its Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) has announced its PV strategy to speed up PV installations. 

Chinese solar panel manufacturer Astronergy has delivered 154.4MWdc of modules to Germany to build a TOPCon PV plant.
